Most people who come to me have already made at least one expensive mistake. They bought a block without checking the overlays. They signed with a builder before they had a proper brief. They got three quotes that were impossible to compare because each one priced something different.
None of this is their fault. The home building industry in Melbourne is complex, jargon-heavy, and not set up to help buyers make informed decisions. It is set up to sell them things.
That is why I am writing this series.

Why I am writing this
I have spent 15 years and more than 500 projects in the Melbourne building industry. I work as an independent advisor, which means I work for the client, not the builder. I have no financial relationship with any builder, developer, or real estate agent.
What I see, over and over, is people entering the build process without the information they need to protect themselves. The mistakes are almost always avoidable. And they are almost always expensive.
This series is my attempt to change that.
